Iowa State University Extension -- Farmer Alliances - A New Breed is Emerging
In response to declining profit margins and concerns about vertical integration in the food supply chain, Midwestern farmers are taking control of their future by forming alliances that focus on adding value to the crops and livestock they produce. Many of these alliances have been created to focus on a specific process for adding value to a specific commodity.
